Disney Diamond Celebration Merchandise ディズニーダイヤモンドセレブレーショングッズ

In July last year, my friend Amy went to Disneyland in California while she was on her trip to Comic Con. And she spoiled me! In July, Disneyland was still celebrating their Diamond Celebration, and she was able to pick up some souvenirs for me, which I received yesterday, as we hadn't seen each other in a very long time. The mug is absolutely gorgeous, and the photos don't do it justice. And the Mickey plush is very cute, continuing my tradition of collecting special anniversary outfit characters!

七月に、私の友達のエイミーはアメリカに行きました。コミックコンとディズニーランドに行きました。昨日、六月から初めてエイミーに会って、ディズニーランドダイヤモンドセレブレーションからお土産をもらいました。マッグがとてもきれいだと思います。ミッキーぬいぐるみが特別な週年の服ぬいぐるみコレクションを追加できます!

Mickey's Birthday Adventure ミッキーのお誕生日アドベンチャー

Next month is Mickey Mouse's birthday!!! Can you believe it?

To celebrate, Mickey himself has decided to spend the time until then travelling around the world, and enjoying many different cultures. You can follow these adventures directly on Mickey's personal Facebook page.

So far, he has played basketball in Los Angeles, and learned a traditional dance in Kyoto, and the videos can be seen on his Facebook page. Are you hoping that he visits your home town as a part of his celebration? Even if I don't actually get to see him, I hope that he can enjoy the Sydney Opera House, or Harbour Bridge. It would be exciting for him to visit Australia, since we don't have a Disney Park, so that is a rare chance!

My Favourite Mickey Mouse Short 私の一番好きなミッキーマウスのショート

I am sure that you are aware that I love Mickey and all of his friends! Why else would I run a Disney blog? But, have I ever told you my favourite Mickey Mouse short?

It is called Mickey and the Seal. It was originally released in 1948. In this cartoon, Mickey visits the zoo for the day, and accidentally brings home a baby Seal! Of course, this makes Pluto angry!

Have you ever seen Mickey and the Seal? If you haven't, I suggest giving it a go some time!

みなさんは私がミッキーたちが大好きのを知ります。でも、一番好きなミッキーショートについて話しましたか。

「ミッキーとアザラシ」というです。1948年、リリースされました。アニメの中にミッキーは動物園に行きまして、たまたま家に子アザラシを引き返します。もちろん、プルートを怒らせます!

みなさん、「ミッキーとアザラシ」を見ることがありますか。

Disney Autographs ディズニーのサイン

Collecting character autographs at the parks is a very enjoyable past time, for children and adults! Going around to meet the characters, get photos with them, and get their autograph is just as important to some people as rides, shows and parades. I certainly enjoy getting the autographs of my favourite characters- I had just as much fun doing this last year as I did when I was 5 years old.

One easy way to keep all of your autographs together and safe is in an autograph book, which you can buy at the parks. However, if you don't want to pay extra money to buy a special book, any kind of notebook is good!

Some people like to get more creative though, and have photo frames, t-shirts and other such things signed. It is all up to you!

I have two autograph books. One of them is from my trip to Disneyland, California in 1995, and the other is from Tokyo Disney Resort, 2014.

I have very fond memories of gathering these autographs. When I was five, Jafar held my book out of reach, and I had to jump to get it back. Mickey Mouse gave me a big hug and an eskimo kiss when I got his signature. Last year, I was waiting to get Goofy and Max's signatures at Port Discovery, and I was a little flustered- there was a lot of confident people getting seen, and I kept waiting. The attendant took my hand and escorted me to Goofy and Max. Once I was finished, Max kissed me on the cheek!

Now I can go through my autograph books with fond memories!

Do you collect autographs? How do you keep them?

Sorcerer Mickey in Disney Tsum Tsum ディズニーツムツムの中にソーサラーミッキー

For those of you who play Disney's Tsum Tsum mobile game, I want to let you know that, for the month of August, in Australia at least, Sorcerer Mickey is available in the Premium box. When you use him, Fantasia music plays instead of the regular music, and you get to tap the screen three times to set off fireworks and remove Tsum Tsums! I was lucky, and managed to get him in my second Premium box.

Good luck!!!

ツムツムニューズがあります!オーストラリアで八月にプレミアムBOXから、ソーサラーミッキーをゲットできます!かれを使ったら、ファンタジアの音楽に聴いたり、花火を使ってツムツムを取ったりします!

私はとてもラッキーでした。二番プレミアムBOXの中からソーサラーミッキーをゲットしました!

がんばってね!

New Disney Leggings

Two days ago it was my birthday. I turned 25. It was a good day, even though I had to go to university and tutoring... I didn't really do much as I was feeling quite tired.

My cousin Laura gave me these really nice Disney leggings! I am very happy, as the only Disney pants I owned before were pyjama pants. And, they are Nylon free, which is good, because I am allergic to Nylon!

I can't decide which one is my favourite!

七月30日は私の誕生日でした。25歳になりました。大学とチュータリングに行かなければなりませんでしたのにいい日でしたと思います。とても眠かったから、何もしませんでした。

私の従妹のローラは私にとてもきれいなディズニーレギンスを書いてあげました!私は嬉しかったです。ナイロンフリーです。私はナイロンアレルギーがあります。

一番好きなペアがどのを知りません。。。

Disney Cruises

I am sick today, so I have spent the majority of it watching Disney videos on YouTube. That always helps to cheer me up.

Today I seem to be obsessed with the Disney Cruise Line. I really hope that one day I can enjoy a Disney Cruise myself. Of course, that would require me travelling to America, and getting over my motion sickness, but maybe one day it will happen.

Here is a cute video I came across on the Disney Parks channel on YouTube that can show you a little bit more about what you might see on such a cruise.

Darling Disney Duds: Disney Diamond Celebration

This edition of Darling Disney Duds features the outfits that Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be wearing in honour of Disneyland's 60th anniversary celebrations!

Mickey and Minnie in their Diamond Celebration Outfits.
Minnie mouse is wearing a nice red dress, with matching shoes and bow, of course. She has light blue accents around her sleeves and waist, which match Mickey's vest quite nicely. He too is wearing some red, with his pants and bow tie a matching colour. And, he has a dark blue jacket on to complete the look.

I think that they look very nice together, and the outfits are suitably special enough for such a wonderful occasion!

If only I could go and see this for myself.

My Easter Gifts

Well, it has now been a few days since Easter, so I thought that maybe I would show you the Disney gifts that I received for Easter. I got them both from my mum : )

Frozen cup and mug with Easter eggs.

And below are some Easter plushies that were exclusive to Target. It is strange, I was looking for them for a few weeks before Easter, as soon as they were announced, but my local Target just didn't have them in stock. After Easter, I was in Target, and I found them! I didn't get them all, just one of the Minnie Mouse versions, and the Mickey version (there was also another Minnie Mouse, and an Olaf).

I hope that everyone had a nice Easter!!!

Sale at JayJays!

I was very excited the other day to find a few Disney shirts at JayJays, that were $5 each! Of course, I had to buy them.

So, if you live in Australia, and you have a local JayJays, maybe you should check it out and see if you can find a great deal!

Scrump's Dizception Sunday

Today we are going to be looking somewhere a bit different... Once Upon a Time.

Once isn't technically Disney's, but it does air on one of their networks, and contains many Disney specific details, such as the names of the Dwarfs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and the references to the Sorceror's Apprentice being a mouse.

So, here we go. In Storybrooke, Maine, Mr. Gold runs a pawn shop that contains a great many wonderful things, including this!

Does anyone else wish that they could go and buy that phone from him?

The Shopping Surprise of a Lifetime!

You may have already seen this, as it has been all over social media today, but I wanted to share it anyway!

Imagine walking through your local shopping centre, like you would any other normal day. But, there is something decidedly not normal happening. What would you do if you saw your favourite Disney character while out grocery shopping, or spending time with friends?

Now, if only they would visit us here in Australia!

Disney at Daiso

I am sure that many of you know about the shop, Daiso. It is a Japanese shop, and in Australia at least, everything that you buy there is $2.80 (though sometimes they have special deals, like buying 4 greeting cards for that price).

I was quite excited recently, when I went to browse in my local Daiso. As it turns out, Daiso now has a Disney range. That is both amazing and a little dangerous for my wallet...

I know that the photo may not be very clear, so I will tell you what everything is!

On the very left is a Minnie Mouse laundry net. So, you can put your delicates inside to keep them safe in the washing machine. It has little Minnie head silhouettes all over it, as well as polka dots.

Next to that is a Mickey Mouse mini dustpan and broom. It should be good for cleaning my desk after my cat has finished sleeping on it, and also for keeping my Disney Corner nice and dust free.

Next to that, at the front, is a Minnie Mouse scrunchy. I really like hair accessories. I am not a jewellery wearer, but show me a new cute hair tie, or hair clip, and I will get really excited.

Behind both of those things is my Mickey Mouse fan. It is much like one of those unfoldable paper fans, only it is made of plastic, so if it gets wet, it will not get damaged. It is much more durable.

At the back is a Minnie Mouse bag. It should be pretty handy for shopping. It is made of a plastic material, rather than canvas.

To the right of the bag there is an insulated lunch bag, so that when I am out and about for the day and want to take lunch, I don't have to worry about it going bad!

And behind that, is a matching leisure sheet. That may be a little confusing for English speakers, so I will explain. A leisure sheet is a fold out mat, made out of a thick plastic, that Japanese people use when reserving space for themselves, or when they need to sit on the ground (many people used them at Disneyland to sit on while waiting for the parade). It serves a similar function as a picnic blanket.

Oh, and if you are wondering about that Mickey butt underneath the lunch bag, that is my pencil case that I bought at the Disney Store in Ikebukuro. I just needed to prop up the lunch bag for the photo : )

Disney Fact Friday

Did you know that the previous voice of Mickey Mouse, Wayne Allwine (who unfortunately passed away in 2009), and the current voice of Minnie Mouse, Russi Taylor, were married in real life?

Learn Japanese With Mickey and Friends

Well, I am getting back into the swing of real life after the holidays, and today I had my first Japanese lesson in three weeks, so I thought that maybe it was time I teach you a little bit more Japanese!

Today, why don't we learn how to say Mickey Mouse?

In Japanese, Mickey Mouse sounds quite similar, and is written as such:

ミッキーマウス。
mikki-mausu.

His name is written in katakana, as it is borrowed from English.

Learn Japanese with Mickey and Friends!

A while back I posted that I was interested in creating a series of posts dedicated to teaching you all a little bit of Japanese, and today I would like to introduce you to the first post in Learn Japanese with Mickey and Friends!

You see, in Japanese there are a few different alphabets.

  1. Romaji- this is used to write out Japanese words in the English alphabet. I will be using that here to help people who cannot read the other alphabets!
  2. Hiragana- this is the phonetic alphabet of Japanese writing. Technically, you can write pretty much everything in hiragana, but that will be very difficult to read, even for native Japanese.
  3. Katakana- this is the alphabet used for loan words, ie. words that have been adapted into Japanese from other languages. In regards to Disney, you will see these a lot!
  4. Kanji- this is the symbolic alphabet of Japanese, and the most complicated. There are over 2000 common kanji used by most native Japanese. Unlike hiragana, this is not a phonetic based alphabet.
Below you will find a hiragana and a katakana chart. Don't be put off by how complicated it looks! With practice, you will learn. And, if you are purely interested in learning how to speak Japanese, then I will be using romaji in my posts, so don't you worry!

Hiragana Chart- start from the right in the bold box, and read down.
Katakana Chart- start from the right, and read down.
So, how about I teach you a phrase that you will need a lot as a Disney fan!

私はディズニーが大好きです!
watashiwadizuni-gadaisukidesu!
I love Disney!

Let's look at the vocabulary used in this sentence!

私 (watashi) is the Japanese word for I. This sentence works just as well without this, because in Japanese, sentence meaning is determined through context.

は (wa) is the subject marking particle. This is used to show what the sentence is about (in this case, it is about "I", the person saying the sentence). Even though this is the hirigana for ha, when it is used as a particle, it is always pronounced wa!

ディズニー (dizuni-) is the Japanese way of writing Disney. This word is written in katakana, as it is borrowed from English (though remember that not all katakana is for words borrowed from English- it is for words borrowed from any language other than Japanese).

大好き(daisuki) means to really like, or love something. When you are expressing whether or not you like or dislike something, you place the particle が (ga) in between the thing that you like, and the word for like. A particle is something used in Japanese language that doesn't really have an English equivalent (though, some of the particles have actual meanings that can be translated. We will look at these a little bit later).

です (desu) often goes at the end of a sentence when you are talking politely, and is called a copula verb. It translates as it is. If you wish to sound polite as you talk, then you should put this at the end your sentence (though there are exceptions, like when your sentence ends with a verb. We will see this later). If you are talking with people you are very familiar with, then you may not need to be as polite, so it can be dropped, or replaced with another version of the copula verb.

So there you go! You can now tell people that you love Disney in Japanese! Good job!

Now, I want you to remember that I myself am not fluent, and am still learning. So, this is a good opportunity to share what I have learned, and to ensure that I remember it. If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them, and if I cannot, then I will ask my tutor for you : )

Please, if you are interested in this segment, let me know if this format worked for you, or if you would prefer a different layout!

Next time, you will be learning how to introduce yourselves!

Becky!
